
Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi
The Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi (India) was founded by Philanthropist and Industrialist Late Mr.B.M.Birla in 1955 as a pioneering institution of technical education and research. The institute is located in the ‘Industrial Heart’ of the country, in a picturesque 780 acre setting at the confluence of the rivers Jumar and Suvarna-Rekha, 20 kms from Ranchi city, India.
The achievements of the institute, both in terms of research and excellent standards of academic programs, led to its attaining the status of a Deemed University under the UGC act of the Government of India, in the year 1986. BIT is a full member of the Association of Indian Universities, and is also member of Association of Common Wealth Universities.
The Institute offers instruction in courses leading to Under-graduate and Post-graduate programs of Engineering, Architecture, Information Technology, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Management. Besides this, PhD, Diploma and part-time programs of various disciplines are also offered. Its Degrees/Diplomas are recognized the world over.
BIT has a good track record of student placements through campus recruitment.
First overseas centre of BIT was established at Bahrain in the year 2000, subsequently in the year 2001 another centre has been established at Muscat, Sultanate of Oman. Now the third one is established at Ras Al Khaimah in UAE in the year 2004.
